Scroll Depth: How to Use It on Landing Pages

Scroll depth shows how much of a page visitors reached. It is most useful when connected to the page's information hierarchy and conversion data.

Map depth to content

Know which sections correspond to major scroll thresholds rather than treating the percentages as abstract numbers.

Do not assume deeper is better

A visitor can convert before reaching the bottom, and a long scroll can also reflect difficulty finding the answer.

Compare segments

Mobile and desktop visitors may move through the same page differently.

Turn drops into hypotheses

A major decline before important proof or the CTA may justify restructuring and testing the page.
